The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance is participating as a patient advocacy organization on a research project funded by the Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Research Program. The project is being conducted by MD Anderson (Anil Sood, MD, principal investigator) in conjunction with four other cancer centers and two other patient advocacy groups. The overall goal of this research project is to study long-term ovarian cancer survivors (10+ years) who were stage III or IV when they were diagnosed. The Consortium will be studying clinical, genetic, psychosocial and lifestyle characteristics of this unique group of survivors to help us get a well-rounded understanding of how all these factors work together to contribute to long-term survival. The ultimate goal of this research project is to use the knowledge we gain to guide new treatments and approaches to maximize survival for ovarian cancer patients.

If you are a long-term survivor (10 or more years) of stage III or IV ovarian cancer and would be interested in participating in this exciting research project, please contact eshinn@mdanderson.org providing your name, email address and phone number.
